Leyte – Tacloban & Palompon
March 16, 20 to 22, 2017
✿ Manila to Tacloban via Airasia. Left Manila before noon and reached Tacloban by a bit past 1pm.
✿ Jeepney and multicab ride from the airport to Robinson’s, then checked in at GoHotels. Medyo maulan when we landed but later nawala naman agad. Settled our things, had lunch at Ilonggo grill, checked out the market, then went to the McArthur landing memorial. Balik sa Robinson’s to buy stuff for our trip the next day.
Please see Samar entry for days 2-5
✿ Left early for Palompon. Van-Van’s terminal naman kami this time. Van leaves starting at 5am. 120 fare from Tacloban to Libungan junction, then another van to Palompon @90 each. We reached Palompon at around 7:30am.
✿ Kalanggaman tour: Registration fee @150 each for daytour, then boat @3k which we shared with a family of 9. We bought lunch from the market – fried and roasted chicken + puso rice. Boat ride was about an hour going to the island. We rented beach chairs @50 each, but di na din kami pinagbayad kasi kilala nila yung family na kasabay namin sa boat 😊
✿ Water was clear, calm, and shallow naman. Ang haba and malapad ang sand bar and still visible pa din daw kahit high tide. We explored the other side as well, medyo rocky but still super clear water. The other side is being maintained privately na din where you can rent out huts for overnight stay. The boat also provided us with 4 containers of fresh water para makabanlaw after. We left at around 4pm and arrived at the tourism office again after an hour.
✿ Since wala ng van going to Tacloban or Ormoc, no choice but ride a habal-habal for 34kms 😳😳 We thought mahal yung P300 but ang layo talaga, almost 1.5hours din yun. From the junction, wait lang kami van going to Tacloban, paid P120 again per person, and we dropped off sa tapat na mismo ng Robinsons. We reached Tacloban almost 10pm na yata, buti na lang we already bought roasted chicken again for dinner na from Palompon market
✿ After breakfast, medyo sleepy pa and not decided yet if we still wanna go to the San Juanico bridge, but we still went anyways. Multicab muna kami to downtown and from there we rented a tricycle for P200. Dahil bawal daw magpark sa bridge, hinatid nya lang kami, then wait sya sa may checkpoint area, we called him when we were done mag-picture taking ☺️
✿ Back to GoHotels, quick bath, then we checked out na at noon, we left our bags at their locker, P50 daw charge pero di naman nila kami siningil. We went back to downtown to buy pasalubong…magnets, keychains, piñato, pastillas, binagol, moron and tablea. Had lunch na din in one of the carinderias. Went back to Robinsons, kain uli, before going to the airport for our 5:50pm flight.
✿ Multicab and jeep going to the airport. Terminal fee was P150 each. We left on time, and arrived Manila by 7pm. Uber lang uli from Naia to Edsa then bus na to San Pedro. Daming byahe ng trip na to, but all worth it. Been looking forward to visiting Biri nadagdagan pa ng Paranas and Kalanggaman, and we were not disappointed. Another experience to treasure.
